Arusha National Park is a beautiful park with diverse landscapes and wildlife, and due to its proximity to Arusha and Moshi, it is the perfect destination for a day trip or to start your safari. Travellers with limited time can still enjoy an authentic safari experience.
A small park at just over 137 km2, Arusha enjoys a high wildlife density and the world’s densest population of giraffes. The park hosts an array of terrain, from open savannah to lush rainforest and even Ngurdoto Crater, a volcanic caldera with steep walls and a swampy floor.
Mount Meru, Tanzania’s second tallest mountain, towers over the center of the park and offers excellent hiking treks. The park also has spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Arusha is also the only place in northern Tanzania where you can easily spot the black-and-white colobus monkey. Another striking feature is the ancient fig trees and the iconic fig tree arch, whose roots are planted across the road, leaving an arch that vehicles can drive through.
The park offers various activities: game drives to photograph the wildlife, walking safaris through the bush, floating across the lake in a canoe, and treks up the slopes of Mount Meru.
